PCTP has access to high quality research platforms with unique technology in the country. Pando Technology Pole constitutes the main research platform, where the projects of PCTP clients are developed.

Renewable energy

This Laboratory develops activities of fundamental and applied research in the area of â€‹â€‹renewable energies.

The Laboratory works in the recovery of waste for use as fuel, in the study of heat treatment processes and hydrothermal biomass and in the application of carbonaceous adsorbents for the production of supercapacitors and fuel cells and gas separation.

The Laboratory also has a pilot oven for the carbonization of biomass and an equipment to make determinations of calorific value of solid and liquid fuels, both conventional and unconventional, as well as for the immediate analysis thereof. A reactor for conducting controlled hydrothermal processes is being installed. Equipment for grinding and sieving of solids is available.

Work approach:

Roasting, Charring and Combustion of biomass.
Carbonization and hydrothermal biomass liquefaction.
Development of carbonaceous adsorbents for use in energy storage devices and environmental applications.
Development of carbon molecular sieves and activated carbon fibers.
Determination of specific surface area (BET area) in adsorbents and catalysts.
Determination of adsorption-desorption isotherms of nitrogen and liquid-phase porous solids (Automatic adsorption equipment Beckman-Coulter SA 3100 - Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Surfaces).
